Stink

Walk away

Stink

lingering
hanging
worrying smell

One is immune
numb – oblivious
The other vulnerable
and bruised

memory
fear
dangerous smell

One has forgotten
and withdrawn
The other relives
vivid memories

sour
nasty
unbearable smell

One’s essence
bleeds reminders
The other retreats
scarred with worry

anger
wounded
disgusting smell

One is blinded
under water
The other veil drawn
sudden epiphany

a backward glance
the ruin exposed
The other decides
and chooses to escape
